Understanding the Issue
OHP Marathon 1% G is a widely-used granular insecticide containing imidacloprid. The manufacturer of Marathon 1% G has recently informed distributors and growers that certain batches of their product Marathon 1% G should not be used or distributed. The Manufacturer has also begun the process of a recall regarding three specific lots of Marathon 1% G. The manufacturer has asked that any Marathon Product be quarantined and that distributors’ and growers’ systems be updated so that the Marathon product cannot be ordered or shipped. It has been reported that after application of Marathon 1% G, there have been instances of phytotoxicity, stunted growth, yield reductions, and in some cases, irreversible plant damage after application. These incidents have raised serious concerns about the product’s safety profile and labeling adequacy, especially when used in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
