  • Sagittal images are taken from a side view of the spine
  • These images look for disk desiccation, which is dried up water inside of the spinal disks
  • Sagittal images look for any cord compression, because disks should be nicely arranged within the vertebrae
  • These images also search for vertebrae that are out of place to determine the seriousness of an injury
