A common misconception and what clients often ask is, “Does it need to be an attack to be sexual abuse?” Very often it is not an attack. It is a slow process where the victim is groomed by somebody in a position of power. Very often, it’s a coach, teacher, priest, or boy scout leader. Over time, they slowly let that person become more comfortable with them and they let their guard down. It’s more of a slow, insidious process, and more often than just one single attack.
